Garett is 23 months!

Garett is 23 months! He's still all boy - loves to wrestle, play ball, dig in the mud, crash toy cars and chase the cat. The latest development is NON-STOP jabbering. We don't always understand what he's trying to say, but we've figured enough out that it actually feels like we are communicating most days. One thing we discovered is that he is grouping like things. For example, he knows I am his mommy but he thinks all women are mommies too, all men are daddies, all kids are babies ("bee-bees"), all colors are blue ("boo"), etc. And can you guess his favorite word? Here's a hint - he's almost 2. MINE! And if he doesn't get his point across with MINE, he says ME-MY-MINE! Here's a little Garett-speak to make you giggle today:

hot dog = do-do
dog = woof-woof
dinosaur = sor-sor, dy-na-sah
cat = kat-kee (we think he is combining "cat" and his cat's name "Mickey")
cookie, cracker, muffin = coo-coo
xylophone = dat-a-fo
drum = dum
car = go
train = tsu-tsu tayn
fish = fiss
bird = boyd
help = hay-elp (a little Southern boy for sure)
TV = TV (clear as day, we must be horrible parents)
milk = muh-muhl
sippy cup = sibby
please = pees
chicken = chi-chee
grape = g-yay-pee
tree = tee
play = pee-yay
potato chip = chibby-chibby (plus a little dance, chips are a rare treat)
fire truck = fah-tuck
dump truck = duh-tuck
backhoe, digger, etc = deeg-deeg
crane = kee-yayn
trash truck, recycling truck = tash-tuck
plane = pee-yayn
helicopter = em-ah-cop-ah
boat = buh-bo
belly button = bee-boh
ice cream = kee-eem
Wall-E = wah-wee (his favorite movie right now)

And the best for last. Every morning when Garett wakes, he asks for his Daddy. I always tell him, "Daddy is at work today." Garett always repeats what I've said, bottom lip drooping, "Dada ah woo."
