Garett crawled at 7 months and 10 days!!! He'd been rocking back and forth on all fours and belly-flopping for a few weeks, so we decided to babyproof the house. And just in time! He took three strides for Daddy on Monday night, and by Tuesday evening, he was all over the place.

Just look at him go!

Garett takes a well-deserved rest in the midst of the locomotion. He looks proud of himself, doesn't he?

"Truthfully, this peek-a-boo thing freaks me out a little, Mommy."

Garett loves bathtime, even if it's just a quickie-bath in the sink.

Isn't the Daddy supposed to rock the baby to sleep, and not the other way around?

If it's possible for Garett to look any more like his Daddy, it's definitely when he's sleeping. He looks so peaceful, and so cute in his Lil' Buckeroo pjs.

Garett may be a South Carolina boy, but his Mommy and Daddy will always be Kentuckians, which means that the first Saturday in May is time to celebrate thoroughbred racing at its best. We couldn't be at Churchill Downs to see the running of the 135th Kentucky Derby, so we hit the road and had our own little stroller derby!

Garett watches intently while famous jockey Kent Desormeaux is interviewed just before the running of the Derby.
Garett learned so much about Derby traditions this weekend! On Friday, he helped Mommy make bourbon balls. On Saturday morning, he helped Mommy cook buttermilk bisquits from scratch, country ham and eggs for brunch. By Saturday evening, he was ready to kick back with a mint julep, just in time for the call to post and the singing of "My Old Kentucky Home." None of us picked the winner this year, but we were happy to cheer on Derby winner Mine that Bird and jockey Calvin Borel.
